For a week or two now, I've been trying to get a handle on how to use objects and arrays in a PHP session. Last night it all finally came together. One of the best parts of programming is when you're trying to grasp a new concept or new way (for you) of doing something that you've been doing for a while that makes life easier. A little light bulb goes "ding", or maybe that's a bell, and the code just starts to flow.
It also makes me more goofy once I breach a problem like that. I just sang Lynn the "You Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone" blues. I ws rocking in my chair approrpiately like an old blind man while singing.
Today has been my day for finding and hunting down typos on various websites, which wouldn't be so bad except I'm the one making all these stupid mistakes in the first place. The first batch was on the chiropractors site at Wellness Depot. It seems there were a few (ok, 5) typos on the forms people can print out before they come in for their first visit. I've got them changed on the actual web pages, but I still need to update the PDFs (note to se've just go tto sort through my nested tables and find out where the problem is.
Today was also the day I learned that I shouldn't tar files. Somehow I managed to corrupt a file while I was trying to make a backup of a directory (just in case I did something stupid - like corrupt a file). The corrupted file managed to have most of the contents of each file in the directory, seperated every once on a while by a strip of binary gobbledy gook.
God but I'm glad it's Friday....
I've been asked (twice now) what's up with the WWF becoming the WWE? Well, highlights of what happened are:
See? Long story short. Court made Vince change the name.
I don't know why it's been such a long week, but it has. Today has been my day for catching up and doing those things I've been putting off. I updated the DVD list with the last couple of movies I've gotten. For anybody that's curious, I'm now up to 300 movies.
What am I doing with 300 movies? I've got to be insane!
I've also spent most of the day searching job websites and submitting my resume to a couple of places. It seems a lotof sites are now following the monster method of filling in a lot of forms to create a "customized" resume instead of just emailing your resume as an attachment. It's probably more efficient for the employer, but it makes for a lot of typing if you're the one applying.
I've also been teaching myself Macromedia Flash (version 6). I've gone through the included tutorials and think I've got the basics of animation. Now I've got to learn about ActionScripting (which they describe as being a lot like JavaScript... but different) so I can do super cool things on the website. I'm limited now to pretty much rotating logos. I've downloaded some extra tutorials from FlashKit to try out, so I've got a basis to work from.
Just for fun, I've posted some of the pictures I took at the beach last week. Granted, I don't think there's a grain of sand in any of the pictures, but did I go to the beach to see sand? No! I went to see women working on their tan! Tans. Whichever.
And just to keep Ying from worrying, there's nothing here you couldn't see on Baywatch. Just not as much slow motion running in the waves.
As always, correct spelling is optional in any blog entry. Keep in mind that any links more than a year old may not be active, especially the ones pointing back to Russellmania (I like to move things around!).
Tags have been added to posts back to 2005. There may be an occasional old blog that gets added to the tag list, but in reality what could be noteworthy from that far back?
