Yesterday, finally, they showed up to install the cable modem!
To make it even more enjoyable, Wil the Cable Guy (formerly Wil the Accountant) was nice, knew what he was doing, and even amanged to repair the cable outlet in my bedroom that was originally wrecked by the Lightning Attack of Memorial Day 2000.
Now to decide what kind of havoc to wreck on the 'net from home!
Last Saturday I was attempted yet again to get a cable modem installed. Much like July I once again ain't got no cable modem. After calling customer service, I know have them coming out today to try again.
Will they come? Will I get screwed again? More later....
I've never been much for politics. To be honest, the only vote I remember casting was randomly checking a box for someone for student council, but this years Governors race has been interesting.
On one side, there is Siegleman, portrayed as a wheeling, dealing, behind the scenes mob boss of some type (at least that's the impression I got). On the other side, there is Riley, who doesn't pay his taxes and doesn't show up for work. If it wasn't for commercials by there opponents, I wouldn't know the truth about either of these guys.
I checked CNN this morning to see who was in control of the state. As of now, both candidates are tied with 49% of the vote each. Someone who didn't even have a commercial got the missing 2%. Siegelman is ahead by 3000 votes (out of 1.2 million). I wonder if it's too late for the guy with the 2% to make some commercials?
Jer enlightened me last night.
I've got to find a better way to start these things off.
Jer showed me the light yesterday.
Less gay, but still not quite right.
Jer.... oh, I'll just get on with it.
While talking to Jerry last night, he gave me a helpful tip which has come in handy in the first 10 minutes of surfing this morning. Jer convinced me of the usefullness of the mozilla browser a couple of months ago. The main thing I like is the ability to open up different sites in multiple tabs instead of having lots of windows popping up. We were talking about pop-up ads, and he mentioned that he had not seen one in a long time. I asked what pop-up killer he used, and he replied "Mozilla". This caught me off guard, but he then explained the following to me.
If you go under Edit->Preferences, then Advanced->Scripts & Plug-Ins, there is a row of checkboxes automatically checked by default. The first option is "open unrequested windows". That's your pop-up killer. The nice part is it will still open a link in a new window if you clicked on it, so it doesn't keep you from browsing anywhere you want to go. Pretty cool. Thanks Jer!

As always, correct spelling is optional in any blog entry. Keep in mind that any links more than a year old may not be active, especially the ones pointing back to Russellmania (I like to move things around!).
Tags have been added to posts back to 2005. There may be an occasional old blog that gets added to the tag list, but in reality what could be noteworthy from that far back?
