After a fun filled 5 day excursion (that involved dodging flooded lanes of Interstate 65), I have returned from the somewhat green watersof Destin to my home in the boonies. It was a nice vacation, I think I managed to not get a sunburn. I had the most fun with the rented convertible: I just love going around with the top down.
Now that I'm back home, I feel like I'm behind in everything. I've got to mow the grass today after the growth spurt from all the rain last week. I feel like I'm behind at work: mainly because remembering ASP is slowing me down more than I want it to. The house is a mess, so I've got a major cleaning to undertake in the near future. Plus unpacking, always the post vacation unpacking.
I left this morning to go to work, but was unable to complete my task. In the early morning hours, the weather turned nasty with high winds, tornado warnings, and lots of rain. I didn't realize how much rain until I tried to go to work and foundall my usual routes were closed due to flooding.
I'm not used to flooding. I'm used to lots of high ground, with water running through ditches. But this time there was too much water for the ditches to handle.
After being turned back home by the Madison police (stupid closing the road through Madison), I switched to Plan B: From home to Athens to get on I-65, then to I-565, and then to Pizza Hut. Yes, Pizza Hut. I had been fasting for a physical that got rescheduled because of the frickin' flooding, so I was going to pig out on some pizza. Which I did, just not as much pizza as I thought I would (evidently fasting makes you less hungry the next day). Anyway, then I went from Pizza Hut to Work.
I wonder if I'll be able to make it back home?
We've had a run of a few days of severe weather, so to help out I recently saw a site where Mr T explains the weather.
Today's CamToon Tuesday is delayed until later tonight, because I forgot to upload the pictures from home.
This morning around 4:00 I felt the house rumble. My first thought was that it was thunder. After not hearing any rain, I was confused, but not so confused that I didn't fall back to sleep.
This morning I learned that the thunder I heard was really a 4.9 earthquake. Much like when a tornado rips through the area, it seems that mobile homes were the hardest hit.
The part that I like is that our earthquake has been given a name by the US Geological Survey: "teak".
I saw on the news today that this is Saddam's 65th birthday (if he's still alive). I was thinking, the best way to capture him would be to find out how many birthday cakes havebeen ordered with 65 candles! I'm sure it's a lot, but you could narrow it down pretty quick - I'm sure there's some secret government agency that keeps track of foreign dictators favorite flavor of cake. Once we find the right cake, just switch the candles with sticks of dynamite, as featured on many a Loony Toon, and Blammo!, all problems aken care of.
As always, correct spelling is optional in any blog entry. Keep in mind that any links more than a year old may not be active, especially the ones pointing back to Russellmania (I like to move things around!).
Tags have been added to posts back to 2005. There may be an occasional old blog that gets added to the tag list, but in reality what could be noteworthy from that far back?
