There's a temporary shortage of hilarity and hijinx as I try to recover from once again throwing my back out.
Stupid back....
It happens to me about once a year. It's got to be one of the quirks of living out in the boonies.
I get invaded by flies. Big flies.
I got home yesterday and looked up to the ceiling and saw a fly. I got up to get the fly swatter from the top of the refrigerator (where all of us boonie-dwellers keep the fly swatter) and while passing by the back door saw that it was covered with flies (covered = about 7 flies). I looked at the back window and saw that it too was covered.
Luckily, these are big, stupid, slow flies and easy to kill. Swat Swat Swat and down they started to go like... well, flies! By the time the massacre was over, Ihad killed 21 of the little buggers.
For the 3rd year in a row, I'm still wondering how they all got in. Is there a trap door I don't know about? Am I running a fly hotel while I'm at work and nobody clued me in?
Luckily,I've got old swatty to help me keep the peace. Swat swat swat.
Another installment of the ongoing camtoon saga is up and available.
Yestderday I finally finished one of the websites I've been working on. All that's left now is whatever little mistakesand tweaks they want vor the next couple of weeks. I've still got 2 other (maybe 3) sites to work on, but this was the one taking up most of my spare time for the last month, so I'm glad it's finally done.
Now I might get a chance to catch up on goofing off in my spare time! Maybe.
Over the weekend I finally finished installing everything I had gotten for the pc at home. Having fully recovered from my virus fiasco (and succesfully retreiving files from Quickbooks and my favorite calendar maker), I had installed all the hard drives (300 GB worth!), cd & dvd burners, tripled my memory, and even installed some really cool cables inside, that not only look cool but should help circulate air flow within the case. Or at least not prevent the air flow too much.
The only hiccup was trying to install the dvd burner. I, of course, plugged everything in and turned the pc on to see what would happen. I put the disc that came with the dvd burner in the cd rom drive, thinking it would probably have some important drivers. I double clicked on the cd drive and was presented with "Place a cd in the drive to continue". But I just put it in. Wierd. It doesn't seem to recognize it. Maybe I've got a cable plugged in backwards?
I backtracked eventually to the original configuration after an hour or so, back to before I had changed anything. When it was booting up I saw where the BIOS recognized everything, but the cd drive still wouldn't recognize the disc. I ejected the disc, thinking I must have a bad copy or something. I started to look at the disc.
Sony Software Disc. Yeah, that's good.
For Windows. Running Win2K, soI'm good.
Then I saw the DVD logo. No wonder the cd drive couldn't read it. I never thought it would be a DVD (Hey, I'm just supid sometimes). Plus, no drivers were needed, the disc just has helpful programs on it.
So I quickly put everything together again, and now have a kick ass pc again!
Well, it's kicked my ass a time or two.
Yesterday it seemed to take forever to get to work. There's 13 lights between home and work (yes, I counted them). Even though it seemed to take forever, I was only caught by 4 of the red lights. Today I seemed to be making pretty good time, and realized that I had only stopped at 3 of the lights.
Yesterday I left 15 minutes later and was caught by more of the school traffic. The lights I was caughtat were mainly the first ones after leaving the house. I think it makes more of an impact when you're zipping along at 60 and then have to stop for a light. Today the lights were right after the other, closer to work where I was already going slower to begin with.
So maybe the pain of the red lights are all a matter of perspective.
As always, correct spelling is optional in any blog entry. Keep in mind that any links more than a year old may not be active, especially the ones pointing back to Russellmania (I like to move things around!).
Tags have been added to posts back to 2005. There may be an occasional old blog that gets added to the tag list, but in reality what could be noteworthy from that far back?
