Last night wrestling came back to Huntsville as Raw came to the VBC. I had been [pardon the pun] wrestling with whether or not to go for a few weeks. The best tickets that were available pretty much sucked. My wrestling interest has been wanning the past year or so. I had decided not to go, but knew that as bell time grew near, I would start waffling, thinking about getting a last minute $15 cheap seat.
Except I didn't. At lunch I thought "Hey, wrestling's coming to town and I.... really don't want to go." After that I would think how weird it was for me to feel that way. Maybe I would end up changing my mind later?
But work would come into play. It turns out there was a demo taking place this morning, and I ended up having to work late to get everything done (well, with a lot of help from Jer & Greg). I manged to gethome last night at 10:10, which ironically enough is the usual over-run time for Raw to end up going off the air.
I've been a reformed Trekker for a few years now, maybe I'm starting the path to reformed Wrestlemaniac?
I found two things that I spent way too much time on over the weekend. The first was some optical illusions from a site in Japan. Not magical type illusions, just tricks your eyes play on you. The other was a Shockwave Lego game that I ended up playing until midnight last night. It's worse than crack, I tell ya!
I collect DVDs. It's my hobby. Well, one of my hobbies. I've reached one of those times of the year, nestled between the end of summer and the start of Thanksgiving/X-mas, when the movie offerings start to dry up.
Tuesday is new movie release day (in case you didn't know). You can go to your local video outlet and rent new releases, or if you're like me you can trot down to Best Buy and pick up what's new. The only problem now - no new movies. Right now Amazon lists 10 new releases for this week. Five of those are season X for various tv shows. 3 of them are old movies from 15+ years ago. The only true new release is a John Cusack movie.
I think the production of seasons worth of episodes for a tv series may be a good idea for some shows. Your sci-fi series have the true hard core following, so they're usually good to produce (I'm getting Babylon 5 and Highlander series now). Some series don't need to be released on DVD. CSI, great show. Watch it when it's got new episodes. Once you know whodunnit and how, what's the point? Want to go even further? Saved By The Bell Seasons 1 & 2. I was hooked on Saved By The Bell for a while, but it comes on like 4 times a day! Almost as much as Home Imporvement.
But surely there's got to be something new coming out that's worthwhile. Somewhere. Some time.
I've often called myself a reformed trekker. I used to be a big Star Trek nerd, but I don't claim it anymore. I got burned out by the 6th season of TNG, but I still have a soft spot for the original and next generation episodes (but everything after I pretty well skipped).
Part of my holiday weekend was spent in front of the tv watching a TNG marathon on Spike "we're not TNN anymore" TV. I probably caught bits and pieces of 5 or 6 episodes throughout the day. One in particular caught my eye: Emergence
, in which the Enterprise is infected with a lifeform trying to give birth to itself, but the only clues lie in holodeck programs merged together. About halfway through I remembered watching it the first time, and many old memories flashed back:
Yet still I watched. At least until they made it to New Verteform City. Yee Haw!

As always, correct spelling is optional in any blog entry. Keep in mind that any links more than a year old may not be active, especially the ones pointing back to Russellmania (I like to move things around!).
Tags have been added to posts back to 2005. There may be an occasional old blog that gets added to the tag list, but in reality what could be noteworthy from that far back?
