Bitchin Time?

08.22.2003

A good 99% of the time, I've got nothing to complain about. Sure, there's the little day to day annoyances that everyone has to put up with (like that person driving just a little bit slower than you are, but for one reason or another youcan't get around them). Of late, I've had a couple of things that have messed with my mojo, and today the third popped up to make the trifecta hopefully complete and done.

2 Weeks ago, I found a leak in my lawn mower gas tank. It's currently at the shop to be fixed - they had to order a new tank. In the interim I now have 2 weeks + of grass building up. And you know I'm way to lazy to dig out the push mower and try to take care of it.

Also 2 weeks ago, I threw my back out. Finally, with a lot of help from my boneologist Rachel & Co., everything popped back into place Wednesday. Now I just have to not do anything stupid as bones and muscles remember where they're supposed to be.

This morning, the passenger side window on the truck would only go halfway up. A call to the Nissan dealership, who I affectionatly refer to as "those bastards", and it's all set to be fixed.

Monday.

Bastards.

Except for the out of the blue summer showers we've been having, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Actually, I managed to pry the window up about 4/5 fo the way up, so I'mnot really worried at all. I just hate the hassle of waiting the weekend to take the truck to the dealership, to then leave it all day for them to take 15 minutes to get the window back on the track it skipped off (or however these things work these days).

But at least my back is straight and I can stand up without grunting now. Wait, I think I was grunting before my back ever went out...

I've got meetings (I think) most of the day, so here are some news tid bits to keep you occupied:

Wrestling Comes Back To Huntsville

08.20.2003

I found out yesterday that Raw is coming to town August 8th. I quickly jumped over to ticketmaster to see what seats wee available, only to learn that they all SUCK!

Should I go just for the heck of it (although even the sucky seats cost $40)? Should I forget it and just watch it on tv? Should I do like I have been for the past few months and not even bother with watching it on tv?

Oh, what to do, what to do?

Nerd Books

08.19.2003

Today is a special American Chopper Camtoon. I really wish they had action figures for these guys.

I came across an article the other day that mentioned a book that I can see Jerry getting. How Would You Move Mount Fuji? Microsoft's Cult of the Puzzle - How the World's Smartest Company Selects the Most Creative Thinkersnot only has a needlessly long title, but also goes over some of the logic problems (both solvable and impossible) that interviewers are using these days.

Fortunately, I've never had a quiz with any job interview. I wonder how that would work?

Play Time

08.18.2003

Over the weekend I finally played a game on the PC. I think it's been close to a year since I actually had a game loaded on it, so I've been about due (plus, the BioVentures site is finally done, so I'm due a little play time).

A few weeks ago I got the latest Star Trek game, Elite Force 2. I really liked the first one, so I was looking forwad to this one. Unfortunately, I've been a little dissapointed. The graphics are pretty good (well, better than anything I could ever do), but the missions are a little bland. So far there's been the "kill the aliens in the Jeffries tube" missions, the "defend the Enterprise from bad guys beaming in" missions, and .... well, I'm on mission 6 and that seems to be all there's been so far.

But for mindless phaser shooting it's got everything you could ask for.

Blog Archive

As always, correct spelling is optional in any blog entry. Keep in mind that any links more than a year old may not be active, especially the ones pointing back to Russellmania (I like to move things around!).

Tags have been added to posts back to 2005. There may be an occasional old blog that gets added to the tag list, but in reality what could be noteworthy from that far back?
