Nerd Books

08.19.2003

Today is a special American Chopper Camtoon. I really wish they had action figures for these guys.

I came across an article the other day that mentioned a book that I can see Jerry getting. How Would You Move Mount Fuji? Microsoft's Cult of the Puzzle - How the World's Smartest Company Selects the Most Creative Thinkersnot only has a needlessly long title, but also goes over some of the logic problems (both solvable and impossible) that interviewers are using these days.

Fortunately, I've never had a quiz with any job interview. I wonder how that would work?

Play Time

08.18.2003

Over the weekend I finally played a game on the PC. I think it's been close to a year since I actually had a game loaded on it, so I've been about due (plus, the BioVentures site is finally done, so I'm due a little play time).

A few weeks ago I got the latest Star Trek game, Elite Force 2. I really liked the first one, so I was looking forwad to this one. Unfortunately, I've been a little dissapointed. The graphics are pretty good (well, better than anything I could ever do), but the missions are a little bland. So far there's been the "kill the aliens in the Jeffries tube" missions, the "defend the Enterprise from bad guys beaming in" missions, and .... well, I'm on mission 6 and that seems to be all there's been so far.

But for mindless phaser shooting it's got everything you could ask for.

Which Movies Do I Watch Repeadedly?

08.15.2003

Last night I finally got around to updating my DVD list (god help me but I've passed the 400 movie mark), and I started to think about what my favorite movies are. I get asked this all the time - one of the things about having so many movies I guess. I've devided them into different categories, because I don't think different genres should compete against one another.

Sci-Fi - Fifth Element. I can't count how many times I've watched this. To me it has everything that a movie should - action, romance, comedy, a minimum level of nudity, plus I really like the soundtrack.

Comedy - Happy Gilmore. I don't care any about golf. Adam Sandler doesn't do much for me. Put the 2 together and I can watch it over and over again.

Drama - Forrest Gump. This may be borderline for a drama, but no matter how far into the movie I walk in, I'll always stay and watch it through the end.

Action - Desperado. Iwas surprised I didn't pick Lethal Weapon, but it hasn't aged as well. Desperado is another of those that haseverything put together to make a great movie. I'm also looking forward to the next installment of the El Mariachi/Desperado saga: Once Upon A Time In Mexico coming this September.

Big Stevie Lebeau

08.12.2003

Steve, one of my favorite people in the world, lost his father over the weekend. It makes me realize how insignificant my sore back is.

I hope you're doing ok buddy.

Owowowowowowowwwww

There's a temporary shortage of hilarity and hijinx as I try to recover from once again throwing my back out.

Stupid back....

Blog Archive

As always, correct spelling is optional in any blog entry. Keep in mind that any links more than a year old may not be active, especially the ones pointing back to Russellmania (I like to move things around!).

Tags have been added to posts back to 2005. There may be an occasional old blog that gets added to the tag list, but in reality what could be noteworthy from that far back?
