Alabama: Home of the Famous

05.28.2003

Everybody seems to know that the latest American Idol Reuben Studdard is from Birmingham, although locally he's known as "Alabama A&M's own", because god forbid somebodyfrom Alabama should do something and not somehow be affiliated with Huntsville. But there is another Alabama company growing in the entertainment business. Their product has appeared in Sweet Home Alabama and the 2 Matrix sequels. That company is Nippits, Inc., makers of nipple covering tape to the stars.

Camtoon Tuesday!

Another Tuesday, another camtoon, believe it or not. I'm gradually becoming able to stick to my schedule!

Cruising From Norwegia

05.26.2003

Back in January, Gina and I went on a weekend cruise to the Bahamas on board the SS Majesty, one of the Norweigan Cruise Line ships. It was vastly underwhelming - lots of hidden charges and a room that when I spread my arms I could touch opposing walls. But for a cheap trip to the Bahamas, it was ok. I'm glad we went in January, because Sunday there was an explosion in one of the Majesty's sister ships. The ship stayed afloat, although 4 crew members were killed.

Next time I go to the Bahamas, I'm going to fly.

Even though I probably won't be going to the Bahamas again anytime soon.

Joy of Search Engines

05.22.2003

In another one of those "behind the scenes" episodes, I found a couple of things that caught my eye while looking at log files yesterday. People are accidentally finding my site!

The first one that caught my eye was a Lycos search for Patricia Valazquez (from The Mummy Returns). Evidently my DVD collection has been parsed.

The next one was a Alto Vista search for "Kristy" and "Hooters Girls". Probably a disappointment when they saw it was merely me talking about going to a wrestling event. Sorry about that, anonymous person from Denver.

Rain Rant

05.21.2003

It's been a record rain month here in Huntsville this year, and the month is only 2/3 over. We've had rain, flooding, and more rain. I think the rain is starting to get to people: they've forgotten how to drive.

It was raining on myway in to work this morning (not unusual, lately). I like the rain because it means there won't be any construction to slow me down on my way in. Quirky, but I'm always trying to find the positive side to everything. It wasn't raining too hard, I never had the wipers on high speed or anything, but my average speed this morning was around 45. Usually it's closer to 60, and there was less traffic than normal this morning!

Maybe it's people trying to be safe. Maybe they're looking out for standing water. Maybe they have no tread left on their tires and their breaks are faltering. But good god people, it's only water! You drink it every day. Most of you bathe in it almost daily! Unless you're the Wicked Witch ofthe West, don't worry about a rain shower.

And press the %@$#ing pedal on the right!

Ok, sorry about that. Just had to get that off my chest. I'm all better now. At least until I fight the lunchtime traffic.

Blog Archive

As always, correct spelling is optional in any blog entry. Keep in mind that any links more than a year old may not be active, especially the ones pointing back to Russellmania (I like to move things around!).

Tags have been added to posts back to 2005. There may be an occasional old blog that gets added to the tag list, but in reality what could be noteworthy from that far back?
