It's amazing how I can have so much going on (websites, work, more websites, catching up with Mom and Dr. Blondie over the weekend) and yet have absolutely nothing to say.
Bitterly ironic in some ways.
I think Thursdays are just my days to serve up erraneous news stories I see.
Need to make some extra money? A Palm Beach gas station attendant made over $13,000 in bogus service charges on customer credit cards. My favorite part of this on is how he's being charged with one count of scheme to defraud and 1,379 counts of credit-card fraud. How bad a rap does scheme to defraud carry?
In Daytona Beach, a former stripper is suing Stan Lee & Pamela Anderson because she claims that TNN's Stipperella is based on a concept she discussed with Stan during a private dance. Who's going to discuss comic book characters with an 81 year old man during a private dance? Oh, and she can't remember much about Stan, because shesees a lot of guys.
Yesterday when I got home I had a new toy waiting on me. Thanks to eBay, I'm now the proud owner of a blueberry iBook. Now why would I want a Mac? Well, with all the websites I've been working on (which have helped to bring my web-cockiness factor way, way down) I'm trying to make sure that sites look the way they're supposed to on Macs. Much like things displaying differently between Netscape/Mozilla and IE, once you add in different operating systems things can get even more screwy.
On top of that, laptops are just cool to begin with. But now I've got to remember how to navigate in the Mac OS. After that I can get cool add-ons!
Yeah, I know it's supposed to be Camtoon Tuesday, and it is. I'm just not real happy with the latest camtoon.
Spike Lee & Spike TV settle their lawsuit. Now The New TNN (formerly The National Network, formerly TNN, formerly The Nashville Network) can change their name to Spike TV to complete their name change to The First Network For Men. Obviously they've forgotten about the Playboy Channel.
Geniuses like bimbos, as Stephen Hawking gets some loving from a stripper at a club in England. Ah, to be rich and famous. And smart. And a really cool electronic voice.
The adult Iranian conjoined twins died during the operation to un-conjoin them. I normally wouldn't think of this as news, but it's so seldom I hear of something like this going wrong during the operation. It just reminds me of how mortal we all really are.
I've been waiting for over a year and a half for ADT to call and offer their security service. Ever since they called the last time (on Christmas Eve Eve) and just got totally thrown off their script, I've been waiting for them to call back and see how much fun I could have with them.
Saturday at 8:00PM I got the call.
Me:Hello?
Cute Voiced Girl On Phone: Hello, Mr Spears?
Me:Yep.
Cute Voiced Girl On Phone:Hi, this is [some name I quickly forgot] from ADT.
[I start to get giddy]
Cute Voiced Girl On Phone:I won't take up much of your time, but we're going to have some people in your area next week ... [blah blah sales pitch, I really wasn't listening]... Does that sound like something you would be interested in?
Me:No, not really.
Cute Voiced Girl On Phone:Ok. If you ever change your mind you can contact us at our 800-number. Hope you have a good night.
And that was it. No telling me how much it could save on house insurance. No badgering that they were going to be in my area repeatedly. No questioning whehter or not I had thought about a home security systems before.
I wait a year and a half and they suck the fun right out of telemarketing calls! Irks me to no end!
As always, correct spelling is optional in any blog entry. Keep in mind that any links more than a year old may not be active, especially the ones pointing back to Russellmania (I like to move things around!).
Tags have been added to posts back to 2005. There may be an occasional old blog that gets added to the tag list, but in reality what could be noteworthy from that far back?
