Mac Time

07.09.2003

"My Yesterday when I got home I had a new toy waiting on me. Thanks to eBay, I'm now the proud owner of a blueberry iBook. Now why would I want a Mac? Well, with all the websites I've been working on (which have helped to bring my web-cockiness factor way, way down) I'm trying to make sure that sites look the way they're supposed to on Macs. Much like things displaying differently between Netscape/Mozilla and IE, once you add in different operating systems things can get even more screwy.

On top of that, laptops are just cool to begin with. But now I've got to remember how to navigate in the Mac OS. After that I can get cool add-ons!

Random News Day

07.08.2003

Yeah, I know it's supposed to be Camtoon Tuesday, and it is. I'm just not real happy with the latest camtoon.

Spike Lee & Spike TV settle their lawsuit. Now The New TNN (formerly The National Network, formerly TNN, formerly The Nashville Network) can change their name to Spike TV to complete their name change to The First Network For Men. Obviously they've forgotten about the Playboy Channel.

Geniuses like bimbos, as Stephen Hawking gets some loving from a stripper at a club in England. Ah, to be rich and famous. And smart. And a really cool electronic voice.

The adult Iranian conjoined twins died during the operation to un-conjoin them. I normally wouldn't think of this as news, but it's so seldom I hear of something like this going wrong during the operation. It just reminds me of how mortal we all really are.

My Call From ADT

07.07.2003

I've been waiting for over a year and a half for ADT to call and offer their security service. Ever since they called the last time (on Christmas Eve Eve) and just got totally thrown off their script, I've been waiting for them to call back and see how much fun I could have with them.

Saturday at 8:00PM I got the call.

Me:Hello?
Cute Voiced Girl On Phone: Hello, Mr Spears?
Me:Yep.
Cute Voiced Girl On Phone:Hi, this is [some name I quickly forgot] from ADT.
[I start to get giddy]
Cute Voiced Girl On Phone:I won't take up much of your time, but we're going to have some people in your area next week ... [blah blah sales pitch, I really wasn't listening]... Does that sound like something you would be interested in?
Me:No, not really.
Cute Voiced Girl On Phone:Ok. If you ever change your mind you can contact us at our 800-number. Hope you have a good night.

And that was it. No telling me how much it could save on house insurance. No badgering that they were going to be in my area repeatedly. No questioning whehter or not I had thought about a home security systems before.

I wait a year and a half and they suck the fun right out of telemarketing calls! Irks me to no end!

Happy Day of National Freedom!

07.04.2003

Yes, July 4th. With any luck everybody is at home and not seeing this until Monday.

To celebrate our freedom from the British, I ask why are British headlines so hard to understand? The headline reads "WHY NODDY FAN STEVEN HAS BEEN ORDERED TO BURN HIS OUTFIT AND SCRAP PARP-PARP." Noddy? Parp-Parp?

Thanks to Jerry, I took a 100 question 80's quiz last night. I knew 84 of the questions. Granted, I guessed on a couple and managed to get them right, but what kind of an excuse is that? I managed to get a few of them right thanks to 80's recap shows on VH1. But still, 84. At least I didn't know who shot JR.

Still Don't Ever Call!

07.03.2003

Just for fun yesterday, I signed up on the national Do Not Call Registry, even though I said I wasn't. It was amazingly simple. All of 2 steps.

Soon afterwards, I found this story of a man what called his telemarketer 100 times because they just kept on calling. That's the quirky kind of thing you hear that makes people sitting around in a bar cheer. Hear hear!

On a more serious note, a man accused of scamming people on eBay had been accused of scamming people on eBay to pay his fine for scamming people on eBay. It's recursive criminality at its finest. More than that, it makes me anxious to see if the used Mac iBook I just bought on eBay is going to make it here next week.

Blog Archive

As always, correct spelling is optional in any blog entry. Keep in mind that any links more than a year old may not be active, especially the ones pointing back to Russellmania (I like to move things around!).

Tags have been added to posts back to 2005. There may be an occasional old blog that gets added to the tag list, but in reality what could be noteworthy from that far back?
